Life Makeover Shrine

My Characters

Updates:
07/12/2024 - redoing the My Characters section, old one can be found here.

It has been almost exactly 8 months since I made this shrine, and obviously the characters I've had back then have went through some alterations. About a month ago the game received another Body Reshape update, and this time it focused on the body instead of the face. Now your characters can be.. wider. Or less wide, if you wish. It ended up with me mostly making half of my characters a lot thicker in the legs/hips/arms/shoulders/breasts. I also created "dupes" of my favourite character which are less curvy, or have a slightly different expression, suited for different outfits. It sucks but some clothes look way better with smaller breasts. Or smaller waists. Or smaller hips. Or bigger breasts etc. While a whole lot better than Sims 4 in regards to how clothes fit the 3D character model, LM is not perfect. However, compared to the eternally stagnating Sims 4, LM is actually noticeably improving a whole lot. Anyway, here are my characters faces!

my characters faces

Honestly when they're all laid out like this in the same haircut and mostly the same default makeup, their faces start to blend together. I've ordered them by their actual height which you'll see a bit below. Compared to the last iteration you can see some characters are gone, some are new and some have... multiplied.

1 has a strange mythical like appearance and vibe so she gets the least use. I also messed up her nose a bit and to this day I haven't fixed it... which also contributes to her appearing the least in my fits.

2 has probably went through the most changes and is actually my oldest surviving model, although at this point you can see her as kind of a Theseus ship situation. Almost every aspect of her appearance got tweaked at some point, so is she really the same character anymore? She has a very serious and kind of mean face, so the outfits that communicate the same energy are what I tend to use her for. She also looks nicely androgynous in really short and boyish haircuts.

3 is my newest, she's practically a baby. I actually got her from this image which I proceeded to tweak quite a lot, except for her eyes/mouth. Those eyes are a style I've been aiming for quite a while now but I could never recreate them properly on my own. I also wanted a slightly more realistic face to fit with a specific type of fantasy fit I have in mind in the future, since we're going to be getting a lot of armor in the future and I think she'd look great in it. Oh and, I'm pretty sure the image I got her from intends for her to be a man judging... But boys don't belong in LM!!! (jk I actually like when people create convincingly male characters, it's possible!)

4, 5 and 7 are essentially the same with some minor differences face wise, and more noticeable differences body wise. 5 is my "default" model that I use for most outfits, she's completely my own creation and I have to brag, I still revel in her uniqueness compared to other peoples characters. 4 is the tallest of the three and also the curviest, honestly how I always envisioned her is almost rubenesque tier, but sadly LM doesn't take too well when it comes to thicker bodies (I want her to have thicker arms ;-;) so she just has to look a bit coomer proportioned. I already toned her breasts down a bit because they cast weird shadows in some clothes lmao. 7 is the shortest of the three, and I changed up her eyes and eyebrows a bit. She's just 5, but in a different font.

6 is also made from someone else's base, although I think I tweaked it a lot, if I remember correctly the third face in this image is her original face.

Lastly, 8 is the obligatory cute and young character that I opted not to use the "girl" model for. I really don't like the proportions in that model. I use her for all the clothes that would look goofy and silly on my more adult characters, because truly there is a lot of that in LM.

my characters bodies

When I lay them out like this it's really apparent I only use one skin tone and one skin tone only. Truth be told, any time I tried making a dark character (I don't really like the other "lighter" skins in this game, they're too yellow or blue idk and the super light hair colors I tend to unlock always wash them out, this is the one thing sims 4 is doing better) I'd get so pissed off at how bad the makeup is I would always end up deleting the character... It's a problem I talked about earlier in this shrine. This paper white skin is my favourite because it ends up adapting so well with the ingame lighting, you can kinda tell it's the default, which kiiiiinda really sucks. Also the default black hair color isn't as black as I want it to be, so it really sticks out how gray it is on dark skin tones, while it contrasts nicely with the whitest skin tone. Sighhhhhh.

Anyway, the lack of skintone variety aside, my bodies aren't that diverse either. I tried to make bodies with longer torsos/shorter legs but they always end up looking... the sameish. You'll also notice I really love small heads. Wtf it seems I'm only roasting myself in this section but it's true, I have pigeonholed myself to a degree... Something I wanted to avoid in the past! Look I just always liked 9 heads tall type of proportions and it really shows, I think I can't escape it.
